Committee on Academic Standing and Degrees (CASD)
As a Representative Committee of the Faculty Senate, the Committee is comprised of one faculty member from each academic division. In addition to its academic composition, the committee includes, as its chair, the University Provost (or designated representative) and the University Registrar (ex officio).
The Committee on Academic Standing and Degrees includes such work as falls under the following provisions:
- Approval or denial of such academic petitions as are brought forward by students of the institution.
- Recommending additions, deletions, or changes to the Academic Regulations of the University.
- Approval or denial of candidacies for academic degrees.
- Recommendations concerning honorary degree recipients.
As a Standing Committee of the Faculty Senate, The Committee on Academic Standing and Degrees reports directly to that body (through the Chair, Committee on Committees) in oral and written reports, including an annual year-end report summarizing the committee’s work.
