Library TV/VCR, video and DVD guidelines
The Kreitzberg Library maintains a small collection of various multimedia that support the academic curriculum. Videos, audiocassettes, CD-ROMs, and DVDs are secured at the circulation desk and may be checked out when a library staff person is on duty.
Videos have a three-day loan period, and overdue fines are $1.00 per day.
Instructors may place on reserve videos that directly support the class curriculum. Reserve videos are available for check-out during all hours that the library is open. Videos can be placed on reserve for 2 hrs, 4 hrs, 1 day, 3 days, or 5 days. Reserve videos may be "in library use only" or can circulate out of the library. Videos should only be placed on reserve for the length of time needed to complete the assignment. Instructors may call the Circulation Supervisor for any class assignments that require other accommodations not included in these guidelines.
Patrons may use the library TV/VCR to view reserve videos and videos for classroom assignments. The library TV/VCR may not be used for recreational use. Headsets must be used and may be checked out at the Circulation Desk. Viewers may not exceed two people at one time, unless the video specifically states that it has been purchased with “Public Performance Rights.”
Instructors may reserve the Multipurpose Room and a TV/VCR for a class. The following guidelines apply:
- The instructor must be present in the class if a copyrighted video is shown.
- Copyrighted videos may not be shown to a class if the class is open to the public.
- Copyrighted videos shown to a class must be part of “systematic instruction” and may not be shown for recreational purposes.
Copyright permission or Public Performance Rights are required to show copyrighted videos for entertainment purposes, recreational purposes or cultural programs in the library. Please contact the Coordinator of Public Services at x2175 if you would like assistance gaining copyright permission or have any questions.
